What is the difference between zakat and sadaqah? ما الفرق بين الزكاة والصدقة؟
Zakat is the obligatory 2.5% on the whole of your zakatable wealth, once it reaches the nisab and a lunar year has passed. Sadaqah is any voluntary gift, at any time and of any size.
الزكاة فريضة مقدارها 2.5% من كل مالك الخاضع للزكاة، متى بلغ النصاب وحال عليه الحول. أما الصدقة فعطاء تطوعي في أي وقت وبأي مقدار.
Should I use the gold nisab or the silver nisab? هل أعتمد نصاب الذهب أم نصاب الفضة؟
The nisab is 85 g of gold or 595 g of silver. Many scholars prefer the silver nisab as the more cautious choice for the poor, because more people reach it. The calculator shows both; ask a scholar you trust which one applies to you.

Not here. Transport and the audit are paid from general sadaqah, so your zakat goes whole to the people it is for. Scholars differ on this point; Qantara takes the cautious side.
